Our Story

What's a couple to do when their roots start calling and a craving for change develops?  Embrace their family history and launch an epic provisions brand, of course!  We are Domonique and Cole Minnis, the food-loving husband-and-wife team behind San Jose’s Traditions Meat Co.

In a world where convenience is everything, proper nutrition is sacrificed far too often.  Never has this been clearer than when we became parents to our two beautiful children, Mason and Mila.  In striving to provide only the best sustenance to support their wellness and encourage their healthy relationship with food and the environment, we focus intensely on what we feed them.  That’s when we decided to take more control of these factors by taking meat matters into our own hands.

For generations, the Minnis family has brought something magical to local agriculture in many ways.  My grandparents and great-uncle were cattle ranchers, and my father owns and operates a small vineyard and winery.  I personally enjoyed working for my grandparents concrete business for 20 years before launching my contracting business.  However, all along, I never could shake my desire to embrace my family traditions, live off the land, and raise tasty meats the healthy way.

My incredible wife, Domonique, brings business savvy to our joint venture and her impressive wealth of knowledge in nutrition and sustainability.  Her compassion-infused concern for the health of our children and fellow citizens pairs well with nearly a decade of experience operating her insurance brokerage firm for First Responders.  Together, we are on a mission to elevate our community’s options for reliably high-quality protein that doesn’t hurt the planet or the body.

Although we are beginning by offering home deliveries of exquisite meats from our favorite sustainable and humane farmer friends in California, our dream is much larger.  As we grow, we plan to open a cheerful storefront and butchery here in San Jose.  Additionally, we intend to secure a plot of land where our little family will live and raise our own livestock and farm animals through peaceful, ecologically-sound practices.  For us, the best part of the Traditions Meats Co. story ends at your dinner table, surrounded by loved ones, delicious, nutritious eats, and positive vibes.  We can’t wait to become an important part of your well-being!
